How to Safely Replace a Flat Tire

Changing a flat tire is easy if you know how to do it safely. Let the Classic GMC Buick tire center and car repair experts help you get started!

  1. Be sure the car is on a flat surface. If not, you could place a block behind one tire to keep it from moving.
  2. Use the lug wrench to loosen the lugs slightly, but do not remove them off the wheel bolts.
  3. Jack up your vehicle until there is enough room for the spare tire to clear the ground.
  4. Remove the lug nuts with the wrench, then remove the tire and place it off to the side.
  5. Line up the bolt holes on the spare tire with the wheel bolts, and push the tire on until it is flush.
  6. Place the lugs on the bolts and tighten by hand until the tire is secure.
  7. Lower the vehicle, and tighten the lugs with the wrench.

Bring the flat tire to Classic GMC Buick to be repaired or replaced.
